Johnnie Griffin from Chicago,IL Since he was 11 years old he was very influenced by hip hop. At 12 he began writing his first rhymes and began developing his own style. From elementary school on to highschool alot of things changed in his life. He lost his mother and brother in the same year. Totally confused spritually and had no idea how the Savior of the world impact his life. Making a name for himself on the underground Chicago hip hop scene, BenEvol f.k.a JGriff began to feel like something was missing and his music was lifeless. Years later after a frightening experience of almost losing his wife he was broken by the Lord. Jesus saved his wife's life and redeemed her husbands soul. He could'nt deny what the Lord had done for him. He took a little break from writing to focus more on his relationship with Christ.In the midst of that J was still producing beats and began to get inspired to write again and the first song that was written since his conversion for his classic debut Window 2 My Mind was Rejoice. Since dropping Window 2 my Mind in 07, BenEvol has put out three projects, The Journey Collection (Instrumental Album) and Authentic Rhymes # 1 and most recently Authentic Rhymes #2. With music being his first love, BenEvol has also found another passion in being a full time barber. Recently being featured in Bleu magazine as one of the top barbers in the country, it has really humbled him and helped to really appreciate where the Lord has brought him from.
